April’s hike in Sunol Regional Wilderness will take us along the picturesque “Little Yosemite” gorge with sounds of rushing water from Alameda Creek and glimpses of its many small waterfalls. We’ll stop to enjoy the creek’s overlook before a gentle climb up Canyon View trail to enjoy the breathtaking views of an oak-lined canyon and serene rolling hills. During the pre-hike of the route, lots of wildflowers and animals were seen and heard including poppies, lupines, yarrow, elderflower, sticky monkey flower, turkeys, swallowtail butterfly, garter snake, acorn woodpecker and cows. How many will you spot?
